中美创客故事：少有人走的创新之路

近年来，3D打印技术的问世及普及，给科学技术的发展以及人们的日常生活带来了前所未有的便利。它颠覆传统加工业的生产制造模式，以其降低制造成本和简化加工流程等优点，被誉为第三次工业革命的标志。

杰里米·麦金尼斯是3D打印轴向磁通电机的制造者。他介绍道，似乎很少有人想要制造3D打印的发动机，更不用说轴向磁通发动机了。这是一个大型的马达，它80%到90%的部分是通过3D打印完成的。

走在这条少有人走的创新之路上，杰里米·麦金尼斯遇到了重重困难。

我正在建造的这类发动机的最大问题是它的转盘。我加的磁铁越多，草图的尺寸越大，我按照草图所打印出的部件就越大。

The big problem with the kind of motor I am building is the pannikin. Though, the more magnets I add to it, the bigger the sketch. And the bigger the sketch I have to print it.

最麻烦的是，我用3D打印机打印出来之后，由于打印层的初始结构，轴杆必须笔直地穿过全部部件，否则轴杆就会移动。当我开始做这个的时候，我打印的转盘是椭圆形的，这带来了一些不正常的震动，并且运作得不太好，因为很多东西之间总有间隙。

So when I print it out on a 3D printer, the bad level is necessarily straight across the whole thing or the shaft will start to move it now because just how the print layers are built out. So when I started this I can get in motors that were really oblong and kind of had tons of vibration and didn’t work well at all because there was a consistent distance between everything.

在创新之路上，各国青年标新创异、和而不同。中国高校创新创业教育联盟副秘书长刘培发现，美国团队的作品呈现出不同特色。

整体来说，他们年龄比较小，但是他们观察非常敏锐。他们就能看到，在他们能够认知的世界范围之内，这个事非常的重要。而且哪些是我们现在需要的，然后又恰恰是我们这个社会现有的这些技术、这些产品不能提供的。他们抓这些点抓得非常好。

In general, they are younger, but their observations are very sharp. In the world that they can see and perceive, they are able to figure out what is very important, what is people do need right now while the technology and products that exist in our society can't provide yet. They catch these points very well.

针对“小创客”们在创新过程中遇到的困难，刘培也给出了不同的见解：

当然，由于他们的认知水平，由于他们的技术储备、知识储备所限制，可能他们所做出来的这个最终的产品并不是尽善尽美。但是我觉得在创客精神、创客思想的发扬这一块，应该说是代表了我们创客精神的传承。

Of course, due to the limitations of their cognitive level, technical skills, and knowledge reserve, it may be that the final product they make is not perfect. But I think in terms of the spirit and thought of maker, they did represent the heritage.

更重要的是你有没有激情，有没有这个愿望，有没有这个欲望去发现身边的问题、去解决身边的问题。真正通过自己的努力、通过自己的脑力劳动、通过自己的智慧，去为这个社会的前进，去提供哪怕一丁丁点的前进的动力。

What's more important is passion. Whether they have the passion and desire to find and solve the problems around, through their own efforts, mental work, and wisdom, to advance the society, to provide even a little bit momentum.
